Our Prayer Shawl Ministry, which began in 2007, distributes Prayer Shawls not only to those with grieving hearts, or those whose physical health has declined, or those who are undergoing difficult times; but also to those who are experiencing a joyous time in their lives, such as baptism, marriage, confirmation, graduation, etc. . . . Our ministry, which is composed of eleven ladies who lovingly and prayerfully crochet and knit shawls, brings much joy to the recipients as they are greatly encouraged and deeply reminded by the Prayer Shawls that Jesus is always with us every step of our lives and that He will provide us with the comfort, courage, strength and peace we need.
In addition to giving Prayer Shawls to members of our congregation, or to anyone who requests a Prayer Shawl for a friend or relative, we also give shawls to two different Hospice Centers in Addison, the Chicago Police Department Chaplain’s Unit, Anne’s House, and the Ronald McDonald Home. The Prayer Shawl Ministry has resumed meeting at 1:00 pm on the third Thursday of the month .
